The Kent State-Buffalo game is officially canceled and will not be rescheduled

The Mid-American Conference game between Kent State and Buffalo has officially been canceled due to extreme weather conditions in Buffalo and will not be rescheduled, the league office announced Thursday evening.

The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but issues with Kent State’s equipment truck, which was reportedly stalled 15 miles away from the stadium, caused the game to be rescheduled for Friday afternoon. However, as the weather in Buffalo has gotten worse, the conference feared for the safety of the players and compromising the efforts of safety workers.

"Despite the best efforts of all involved, it will not be feasible to play the football game between Kent State and Buffalo on Friday," said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher. "The game has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The safety of the student-athletes and fans is paramount.  We want to be respectful of the efforts of the emergency service personnel in the Buffalo area who are working to assist those in need."

While Buffalo is 4-6, two of those wins are against FCS teams. The conference already has five bowl eligible teams to fill its five primary bowl slots, but, according to Buffalo spokesman Jon Fuller, the Bulls might have been granted a bowl spot had it gotten to six wins and the conference had a spot it needed to fill.

That, however, is now not an option.
