Before Texas’ win over OU, Mack Brown guaranteed his job security (Video)

Prior to Texas’ 36-20 upset victory of Oklahoma, ESPN’s Chris Fowler did a short segment on Texas coach Mack Brown and said Brown "guaranteed" he wouldn’t be fired this season.

“He says he feels no pressure,” Fowler said. “He guaranteed me, last night, that he would never, ever be fired from Texas.”

Well, that’s telling.

For all of us who assumed Brown was on the same hot seat former coach USC coach Lane Kiffin was on prior to his firing, the coach doesn't feel that's the case. According to Brown, the coach has immunity and will leave Texas on his own terms.

Of course, all of this is a moot point now. Texas’ stunning domination of Oklahoma – the Longhorns’ first win in this series since 2009 - should give Brown a stay of execution at least for the week and probably for the season.

As mediocre as Texas has been this season, it is 3-0 in Big 12 play and just beat the supposed class of the conference. Brown maintained all along that his goal was to win the Big 12 and play in a BCS bowl. Right now, those goals are very much alive – as is Brown’s role as the Longhorns’ coach.
