Texas’ helmet decal to honor Darrell Royal is a fitting tribute
Texas is going all out with its helmet decal to honor legendary coach Darrell Royal, who passed away this week at age 88.
Instead of a small decal somewhere on the helmet, Texas incorporated Royal's "DKR" initials into the normal Longhorn logo that's on the side of the helmet. That's fitting considering what Royal meant to the Texas program and his legacy on the Longhorns.
The helmet decal was tweeted out by Texas football's official feed.
Saturday's game against Iowa State will be a special one for Texas, which will run the wishbone formation that Royal is best known for on the first play.
