Texas fans sell T-shirts and start a petition to bring Nick Saban to Austin

And it’s begun.

Texas fans have launched a grassroots campaign to get Alabama coach Nick Saban to Texas for the 2014 season. The effort included a petition, which had 21 signatures at the time of this posting, and T-shirt sales.

The person who thought up the signs and the T-shirts is a marketing genius. Way to capitalize on your downtrodden football program and use it to make a buck.

Saban, who is on the road to his third consecutive national title with Alabama, has been on the wishlist of many Texas supporters. One booster even leaked to the media last week that he met with Saban’s agent following the national championship game.

Of course, Saban denies any interest in wanting to leave Alabama, which is good since Mack Brown is still the coach at Texas – for now.

But maybe, just maybe, this passionate fan money-grab will inspire Saban to reconsider.
