Tennessee's Cameron Sutton says he blacks out 'from time to time'

Tennessee defensive back Cameron Sutton missed some of Saturday's game against Missouri. The reason for his absence? Sutton blacked out on the field.

Sutton, a sophomore, said he blacks out from time to time, but said Saturday was the first time it's ever happened on the field.

"Just blacked out ... This is the first time it’d ever happened in a game," Sutton said. "They ran a couple things on the sideline just to make sure I was okay and was eager to get back out there and finish the rest of the game."

He did return to finish the game.

"From time to time, it may just happen throughout the course of the day I might black out, so just keep walking, like nothing ever happened," Sutton said. "Like I said, it’s the first time it ever happened during a game."

Though he said the blackouts aren't an every day occurrence, they're apparently fairly regular.

"It doesn’t happen every day but for the two seconds it does happen I just black out, come back and keep on goiing about my busines," Sutton said.

Sutton has 33 tackles and three interceptions this season. Tennessee plays Vanderbilt on Saturday and with a win, the Volunteers become bowl eligible.
