Teddy Bridgewater fulfills Twitter request, visits recovering Louisville student in hospital

Teddy Bridgewater is a busy guy. The Louisville quarterback was a counselor at the Elite 11 camp in Oregon last week and is preparing for a season where he’s a Heisman favorite and a potential top pick in the NFL draft.

Those obligations didn't stop him from taking some time out of his day to visit an ill fan who reached out to him via Twitter. 21-year-old Savannah Price is a student at Louisville who just underwent surgery at University Hospital to help treat her Crohn’s disease. While recovering, her fiancé Ian Kelley thought the Cardinals quarterback might be able to lift Price’s spirits following the procedure. A few days later, Price received the following message from Bridgewater:

Visiting hours were over Sunday night when the quarterback reached out, but Price’s nurse directed Bridgewater to come up through the parking garage. The alternate route worked, leading to:

He talked with her for 30 minutes, although Price admitted she wasn’t the best conversationalist while hanging out with Teddy:

"My mom had to run the conversation because I was so star struck," said Savannah, with a laugh. "It was just a casual conversation. He came in here, asked me how I was doing, and found out about my story."

Bridgewater told Price that he was in the same hospital in January for a procedure to fix his jaw.

"If I could summarize it, he could be this big hot shot, but he's really not," she said. "He came in here just to visit a fan, was really down to Earth, and very soft-spoken. It blew me away when he was in here."

Price was released from the hospital Monday. Bridgewater and the Cardinals open their season Sunday, September 1 against Ohio.
