One of the top returning offensive threats for TCU is facing some legal issues after being arrested Tuesday in Fort Worth on suspicion of marijuana possession.

According to the Fort-Worth Star Telegram, police ran the license plate number of a 2010 Lexus that was found to have a “warrant hit,” the police report says. Officers then arrested TCU wideout Brandon Carter and 22-year-old Alexis Harris for “possessing less than two ounces of marijuana.”

The report says that Carter was driving but Harris, who was also arrested on two outstanding warrants, owns the car.

Carter, who caught 31 passes for 370 yards as a junior last season, was released from jail Wednesday morning.

TCU is aware of the charges.

Carter was expected to have a bigger role last season after a breakout sophomore campaign that included 590 yards and six touchdowns, but he did not catch a touchdown pass and was ultimately granted a leave of absence from the team in November to deal with what head coach Gary Patterson called “a personal thing.”

After returning to the program, Carter was held out of spring practice so he could focus on schoolwork.

Carter, a native of Euless, Texas, was a three-star recruit in the class of 2011 who chose TCU over Oklahoma.
