Syracuse QB Terrel Hunt out for the season

Syracuse coach Scott Shafer said Thursday that quarterback Terrel Hunt will miss the remainder of the season.

Hunt, a senior, fractured his left fibula against Louisville on October 4 and was originally expected to miss four-to-six weeks with the injury. However, he won't be ready for the Orange's final two games of the season.

"Terrel's down," Shafer said Thursday via Syracuse.com. "He's getting better, it's just that bones heal differently in each kid. He won't be available for the rest of the season, but he's doing a nice job with school, he's adjusted to the situation well and he's helping us with the young guys. He's been very attentive to meetings, but he won't be available."

Hunt will finish the season with 983 passing yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. He had 1.638 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2013.

In terms of passing yardage, competion percentage and yards per attempt, Hunt is still Syracuse's passing leader. After A.J. Long was sidelined for the game against Duke on November 6, Austin Wilson played quarterback. Long missed the game because of a nerve problem in his throwing shoulder. Long is expected to start against Pitt on Saturday after returning to practice.
