No. 12 South Carolina got off to a rough start on the road against Central Florida and then it got even worse as the Gamecocks lost starting quarterback Connor Shaw. The veteran QB suffered a shoulder sprain on a first-quarter scramble.
Shaw was hit hard and fumbled on the Gamecocks’ first possession and, after being taken to the locker room for evaluation, he was been ruled out for the rest of the game. He was seen on the sideline with his jersey and pads off and an icepack on his shoulder.
Junior Dylan Thompson, who shared snaps with Shaw last year, entered the game in Shaw’s absence.
