Smells like team spirit: Yankee Candle releases new line of college scents
Following in the footsteps of the fragrance lines we told you about earlier this summer, Yankee Candles is giving you another chance to make your home smell like your favorite college team.
The candle company is teaming with the Collegiate Licensing Company, the same organization that handles deals between major universities and companies like EA Sports.
‘‘Our fans are as enthusiastic about showing their school pride as their love for Yankee Candle,’’ Hope Margala Klein, Yankee Candle executive vice president of brand, innovation, and merchandising, said in a statement. ‘‘By offering the Fan Candle Collegiate Collection, we can now offer the best of both worlds for our biggest fans!’’
The website is now selling 25 collegiate options, with two additional scents (UMass Amherst and William & Mary) debuting later this fall. The majority of the options hail from SEC, Big Ten, ACC and Big 12 country, with the Pac-12 getting no love in the current release.
Some of the popular scents associated with the candles are Black Cherry (Alabama, Arkansas, Boston College, Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech), Home Sweet Home (Florida, Virginia, West Virginia) and Macintosh (Ohio State, Mississippi and Wisconsin).
A few of the more unique scents? Beach Walk (North Carolina), Vineyard (LSU), Balsam and Cedar (Michigan State), Black Coconut (Georgia) and Lucky Shamrock (Notre Dame).
