Nike co-founder and chairman Phil Knight has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to his alma mater, the University of Oregon. Buildings are named after him, he has the best seats for all Oregon athletic events, and he even has his own locker in the football team’s locker room.
The school, to show appreciation for Knight’s generosity, is launching a “Phil It Up” campaign for Knight’s 76th birthday. The goal is to sell out Oregon’s basketball game on Feb. 1 against USC, but you can also sign an online birthday card for Uncle Phil at HappyBirthdayUnclePhil.com. But you must act quickly, because the deadline for the card is Jan 15 (today).
Oh, and if you are one of those in attendance for the basketball game – which has (not so) cleverly been dubbed “Appreciation Knight” – you also can receive your very own Phil Knight bobblehead!
