As Robert Griffin III walked across the stage to accept Baylor's first-ever Heisman trophy, a bit of blue and red peeked out from underneath his pant leg.

Griffin, better known as RG3, is known for wearing youthful socks that usually depict cartoon characters and accepted the prestigious Heisman Trophy with a Superman logo on his shin and a red cape streaming down the back of his calf and Achilles.

Griffin's Superman socks were fitting because in Baylor's world Griffin had become a superhero.

Against all odds, Griffin came out of nowhere and crashed a Heisman party that is usually reserved for players in the national title game, a BCS bowl game or at least from an established power team. Baylor is none of those. The Bears won nine games this year for the first time since 1986 and are going to just their second bowl game since 1994. Griffin won the Davey O'Brien award on Thursday and became just the third player in Baylor history to win a national award of any kind.

And now he's a Heisman winner.

Perhaps, Superman is wearing RG3 socks.
