Reports: Jeff Brohm will replace Bobby Petrino as head coach at Western Kentucky

On the same day Bobby Petrino was introduced as head coach at Louisville, Western Kentucky has reportedly already found his replacement.

According to Footballscoop.com and SB Nation, Western Kentucky has hired Jeff Brohm to be the new head coach of the Hilltoppers. Brohm spent the 2013 season as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator under Petrino at WKU.

According to SB Nation, Brohm was “unofficially promised the job” when he arrived at Western Kentucky in case Petrino left.

That move was made to help create system consistency on offense and bridge recruiting. WKU didn’t figure Petrino would be around long, and those suspicions were warranted.

After playing collegiately at Louisville, Brohm played six years as a backup quarterback for six different NFL teams from 1994-2000. He returned to Louisville in 2003 as an offensive assistant coach and stayed on staff until 2008, He also coached at Florida Atlantic, Illinois, and UAB before joining the staff at Western Kentucky.
