Could the Penn State coaching vacancy have yet another candidate?

Per a report from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman is set to interview with the Nittany Lions about the head coaching position. The spot became available when Bill O'Brien went to the Houston Texans.

Additionally, CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman reported that Roman actually already interviewed with the Penn State search committee this week at an offsite location.

Roman has been the 49ers' offensive coordinator since Jim Harbaugh was hired as head coach from Stanford in 2011. Prior to running the offense in San Francisco, Roman was an offensive assistant with the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens from 1995-2007 before joining Harbaugh's staff as offensive coordinator at Stanford.

Roman was reportedly a candidate for the Penn State position in 2011 as the school looked for its replacement for Joe Paterno. At the time, Roman called the Penn State position "a lifetime job" and "a very unique opportunity" that he'd "consider strongly."
