Update: 7/25 - 12:15 p.m. ET

The hits just keep coming.

Orangebloods.com's Jason Suchomel is reporting that safety Josh Turner has also been dismissed. The senior appeared in 37 games in his career, making five starts. He registered 93 total tackles, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries in three seasons with the Longhorns.

Additionally, Suchomel is reporting that linebacker Kendall Thompson is no longer with the team due to concussion issues.

Like Turner, Thompson appeared in 37 games, registering 90 total tackles, eight tackles for loss and two sacks.

In total, four Texas players have reportedly been dismissed from the program by head coach Charlie Strong in the past few days.

Charlie Strong isn’t messing around.

Ever since Strong took over as Texas head coach, he has brought over the no-nonsense approach he was known for during his tenure at Louisville. That continued Thursday when Strong reportedly dismissed three players from the Longhorns program.

Orangebloods.com reported Thursday night that defensive back Chevoski Collins and running back Jalen Overstreet were booted due to “a violation of team rules.” Additionally, Orangebloods.com reported Friday morning that senior running back Joe Bergeron was also dismissed by Strong on Thursday.

All three players have the option to appeal the dismissal.

News came out earlier in the week that Strong banned four UT players from the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletic Center for the summer, and Orangebloods reported that Collins and Overstreet were two of those individuals. Collins redshirted as a true freshman, while Overstreet ran for 102 yards and two scores as a redshirt freshman in 2013.

Bergeron was held out of the latter portion of spring practice by Strong so the senior running back could focus on academics, and Strong praised him for his efforts at Big 12 media days on Tuesday.

“[Bergeron] will be back in the mix [at running back]. He has done everything we’ve asked him to do, not only academically, but just showing up doing those little things,” Strong said. “When you take something away from a player sometimes and when you take something away that they really enjoy doing, then you can see a lot of change, and that changes very quickly if it’s important to them.”

In Bergeron’s three years with the program, he ran for 1,392 yards and 25 touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2012, the 6-foot-1, 232-pound Bergeron started six games, running for 567 yards and 16 touchdowns. Even with Bergeron and Overstreet out of the picture at running back, the Longhorns still return their two leading rushers from last season – senior Malcolm Brown (904 yards, nine TDs) and junior Johnathan Gray (780 yards, four TDs).

On top of the three dismissals, Strong indefinitely suspended wide receivers Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander after the two were arrested and charged with sexual assault on Thursday.

It has been a rough week for the Texas program.
