Baylor star defensive end Shawn Oakman has been suspended for the Bears’ Friday season opener against SMU, according to Bleacher Report.

Fox Sports reported that safety Orion Stewart also was suspended.

The reason for the suspension was not disclosed.

Oakman, a fifth-year senior, was an All-American last season after setting a Baylor single-season record 11 sacks. He finished the year with 51 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and three fumbles recovered.

Stewart was an All-Big 12 safety last season with 82 tackles and four interceptions.

Both outlets reported that neither player made the trip to Dallas.
