QB Kyler Murray re-affirms commitment to Texas A&M

The Texas A&M fanbase was finally able to breathe easy late Thursday night.

The program’s stud quarterback commit, Kyler Murray, announced on Twitter that he is sticking with A&M after weeks of speculation.

Just last week, Murray, the No. 71 overall recruit in the country per Rivals.com, took a visit to rival Texas and rumors swirled that he would ultimately end up with the Longhorns on National Signing Day.

However, Murray re-assured the Aggie faithful that he will play collegiately in College Station.

Murray, a native of Allen, Texas, has been verbally committed to play for Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies since May. Sumlin had an in-home visit with Murray on Thursday night, which led Murray to tie the bow on his recruitment.

“Texas A&M is where my heart is at,” Murray told ESPN.com. “Coach Strong and Texas is a great opportunity, but I felt that A&M was the place for me.”

Murray had a prolific high school career, going 42-0 and winning his third straight Texas high school state title in December. He was also named the Gatorade High School Player of the Year.

Texas A&M’s class is currently ranked No. 9 nationally according to Rivals with National Signing Day less than a week away.
