QB Asiantii Woulard transferring from UCLA

UCLA QB Asiantii Woulard, a possible candidate to succeed Brett Hundley as the Bruins' starting quarterback, is transferring.

Woulard would have been a redshirt sophomore in 2015. He was a four-star quarterback in the class of 2013 from Florida and a member of the Elite 11 quarterback class in 2012 and named MVP of the camp.

He was a member of UCLA's four-person quarterback competition to start in 2015 along with Jerry Neuheisel, Josh Rosen and Mike Fafaul. Neuheisel helped UCLA beat Texas last season after Hundley went down with an elbow injury.

Rosen was the top quarterback recruit in the 2015 class and enrolled early. He was also considered to be the No. 2 prospect in the entire country by Rivals. UCLA coach Jim Mora had not named a starter after spring practice and left open the possibility of a long quarterback competition in fall camp.

Earlier in April, UCLA quarterbacks coach Tyler Mazzone had said he liked the way Woulard was competing for the job.

"I like the way Asiantii has been working," Mazzone said via the Los Angeles Times. "He was texting me late last night saying, 'When we're in this, we have to do that, right?'"
