Paul Ryan gives Miami-Ohio a pep talk before its thrashing against Ohio State

Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan was campaigning in Ohio Saturday and decided to stop by the Horseshoe to campaign and check out his alma mater Miami-Ohio.

After playing some cornhole with an 11-year-old Ohio State fan and flipping burgers while yelling "O-H" ("I-O"), he went into the Miami-Ohio locker room to give the RedHawks one of the most lackluster pep talks ever.

In fact, the 45-second rah-rah was wildly disjointed as Ryan got his facts about Ohio State's record against teams in the state of Ohio backward. He tells the RedHawks that he's proud of them and then he asks them to go out and make him proud. Then he awkwardly finished with, "And make it… count."

It was good of Ryan to take the time to stop in and chat with the team, but I bet several of the players had no idea who he was (they are college students and probably not all registered voters).

Ryan watched the game in a club level box with Ohio Rep. Pat Tiberi and left while the RedHawks were up 3-0. Of course, after Ryan left Ohio State found its offense and proceeded to beat Miami-Ohio 56-10.

Media actually asked Ryan about the blowout loss during the flight from Columbus to Jacksonville, Fla., and Ryan was very judicious in his answer.

"We were winning when I was there," he said.
