Oregon to wear throwback uniforms for spring game (Photos)

Oregon will pay homage to one of its best teams for Saturday’s spring game.

The program announced Friday that the Ducks will don throwback uniforms that honor the 100th anniversary of Oregon’s first Rose Bowl team from 1916, when UO knocked off Penn, 14-0. The uniforms are in the school’s former colors – blue, yellow and white – that were worn until 1925.

The squad will be divided into two teams – “Webfoots” and “Mighty Oregon.” Both teams will wear gold pants and gold helmets, but Webfoots will go with blue jerseys while Mighty Oregon rocks white. Both teams have fight song lyrics on a sleeve and a patch of Oregon’s state flag on the pants.

Additionally, non-contact players (quarterbacks) will wear yellow jerseys.

Oregon, of course, is no stranger to special uniforms, even with spring games. The Ducks went with unique pro-military styles for the past three years. Overall, this is the eighth straight spring game where the Ducks debuted new uniforms.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 11 a.m. PT.
