A little fun for the middle of your work week…
While we've all been watching college football teams battle on the gridiron, another fight has been brewing behind the scenes between Oregon mascot, Puddles, and Arizona State mascot, Sparky.
And it's getting ugly.
On Sept. 5, Puddles held a press conference to announce his candidacy for the president of the United States with the campaign slogan: "America Needs A Leader Who Isn't Afraid Of Not Wearing Pants."
And now, in typical political fashion, the negative ads are starting to surface.
On Monday, Sparky attacked Puddles for his violent tendencies in a clever video promoting Arizona State's blackout game against Oregon on Oct. 18.
Of course, Oregon had to fire back.
While some might argue this is stupid, I say lighten up. I think it's smart that both schools are trying some different marketing tactics. Oregon's mascot is one of the most recognizable and visible in the country. Arizona State tried to steal some of that spotlight in a well-timed attack ad while simultaneously promoting the game between the two teams.
It's fun to see a rivalry brew between the No. 1 team in the Pac-12 North and the No. 1 team in the Pac-12 South. Here's hoping that Arizona State comes back with a witty response.
