Ole Miss LB Serderius Bryant got ejected for targeting (GIF)
Ole Miss LB Serderius Bryant was ejected for targeting in the first quarter of the Rebels' game against Ole Miss Thursday night.
It was not a borderline hit, either. While Bryant protested the call, he lowered the crown of his helmet into Boise State QB Grant Hedrick's helmet.
The call was upheld after review. Had it been overturned, not only would Bryant have been able to stay in the game, but the 15-yard penalty for the foul would have been removed as well. Last year, the first season of the targeting rule, if a foul was overturned, the ejection went away but the yardage was still applied to the foul.
Bryant's post-foul absence is a costly one as well. He led Ole Miss with 78 tackles last season and Denzel Nkemdiche is suspended for the game. It wasn't ultimately costly on the drive, however. Hedrick threw an interception shortly after it.
After he went to the locker room, Bryant took to Twitter.

Bryant's ejection is not the first this year in college football. Georgia State's Tarris Batiste was ejected for targeting in the third quarter of the Panthers' game against Abilene Christian Wednesday night.
