Oklahoma State LB Ryan Simmons suffers season-ending knee injury

Oklahoma State is going to be without a longtime starter for the rest of the 2015 season.

Linebacker Ryan Simmons said on his Instagram page Tuesday night that he had torn an MCL and PCL and will need surgery for the injuries.

Family, Friends, & Fans.... I recently tore my MCL & PCL which will require surgery and end my college football career. BUT GOD has a plan and I know without a doubt he will take care of me and my future.. I'm so thankful for all the opportunities I've been availed to while playing this game I love at this special university. Thank you for your support along the way. Prayers are more than welcomed on this road to recovery. With that said.. We got more games to win! #InJesusName #GOPOKES #GMG

Simmons has started every game for Oklahoma State since the 2013 season began. The Cowboys' starting middle linebacker in 2015, Simmons had 14 tackles in five games this season and is considered one of OSU's main leaders.

According to NewsOK.com, Simmons will be replaced at MLB by Chad Whitener. The Cal transfer had nine tackles against Kansas State on Saturday. Oklahoma State beat the Wildcats 36-34.

Whitener had a scholarship at Cal and transferred to Oklahoma State as a walk-on. He was awarded a scholarship at OSU before the 2015 season started.
