Oklahoma safety Hatari Byrd was cited by Norman Police following an incident early Saturday morning.

According to the Tulsa World, the 20-year-old Byrd was cited “on complaints of possession of drug paraphernalia by a minor and possession of alcohol by a minor.” He was pulled over after being observed “driving left and of the center line and right of lane markers and speeding” after 2 a.m. on Jan. 24.

After being pulled over, Byrd was reportedly found to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana in the driver’s seat. There was also a bottle of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey reportedly “in the passenger floorboard.”

Byrd was cited for two misdemeanor offenses and then “released from the scene.”

When asked for comment on Byrd's citation, an OU spokesperson told SoonerScoop.com that the program "is aware of the matter and it is being handled internally."

Byrd, who is expected to compete for a starting role as a junior next season, appeared in all 13 games for the Sooners in 2014. He registered 17 tackles, three pass breakups and forced one fumble.

As a freshman in 2013, Byrd played in five games and had three tackles.
