After attending a camp on Georgia’s campus on Tuesday, three-star outside linebacker Gary McCrae verbally committed to UGA on Wednesday and became the 11th member of the Bulldogs’ 2015 class. According to Rivals, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound McCrae, a native of Cuthbert, Ga., made his pledge to play for coach Mark Richt a few hours after receiving a scholarship offer from the Dawgs.

McCrae discussed his decision with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, saying it was a “dream come true” to commit to Georgia and that he had been a Georgia fan since he was a kid.

When talking who Georgia edged in his recruitment, McCrae dropped a comment that is sure to raise a few eyebrows. McCrae admitted that he had his eye on another SEC school.

“I think Auburn was fixing to pull the trigger,” he said. “If Auburn would’ve offered first, I would’ve committed there.”

Uh, what?

So does that mean that if Auburn comes through with offer soon, he would flip his decision? McCrae says no.

“I’m committed to the 'G' now,” McCrae said. “I like the facilities, the atmosphere and how they treat players up there. I went ahead and committed because that’s always where I wanted to go. My mind was made up: If Georgia offered, I was going to take it.”

McCrae plays quarterback and outside linebacker at Randolph-Clay High School. He said that Richt offered him as an athlete and will play wherever the coaches decide he fits best.

McCrae also had offers from Cincinnati, Louisville, Michigan State, Kentucky, and North Carolina.

His recruitment will be one to keep an eye on for SEC fans, especially if Auburn decides to throw its hat in the ring with a scholarship offer.
