The mother of Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott died Sunday morning.
Peggy Prescott lost her battle with colon cancer, leaving three boys, including Dak, the youngest who is the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs.
"The Mississippi State football family is completely saddened by the passing of Dak Prescott's mom, Peggy,” coach Dan Mullen said in a statement. “They shared an extraordinary mother-son relationship. We know Dak will carry on her great strength and kindness. Please pray for Dak and his family as they go through this difficult time. We also kindly ask that you please respect their privacy."
According the group Huddle Up for Cancer, which was created in part to help raise fund to help pay Peggy’s medical bills, Peggy had been in hospice. The group also was scheduled to hold a benefit for Peggy on Oct. 26.
