Minnesota’s 34-23 upset win over Nebraska gave the Gophers their sixth win of the season and their second consecutive year with bowl eligibility.
And even though coach Jerry Kill was not on the sidelines to lead his team to the win – he did speak to the team at halftime – interim coach Tracy Claeys had a colorful way of describing how hard the Gophers play for their coach.
Kill has missed the past three games since suffering an epileptic seizure the morning prior to the Michigan game on Oct. 5. He decided to take time away from the team to concentrate on managing his epilepsy.
While he hasn’t been on the sidelines or at practice, he has been in the press box during the last two games and spoken to the team at halftime and postgame and many players have called Kill an inspiration.
