Michigan lineman Graham Glasgow pleads guilty to reduced drunk driving charge
After being charged in April for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Michigan junior offensive lineman Graham Glasgow pleaded guilty Monday to a reduced misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle while visibly impaired.
Speaking about the incident for the first time, Glasgow admitted in court that he drank “10 to 12” Natural Light beers at his house before driving on March 15, according to the Detroit Free Press. The 6-foot-6, 308-pound Glasgow said that he started drinking “around 4 p.m.”
After drinking the beers, he took an hour and a half nap before driving to a downtown Ann Arbor pizza restaurant. While en route to the restaurant, the 21-year-old was pulled over at 8:39 p.m. when “an officer spotted a female passenger hanging out the passenger window.”
After being pulled over, Glasgow registered a blood alcohol content of .11. After being brought to the police station, Glasgow’s BAC was .13. The legal driving limit in Michigan is .08.
The penalty for operating a vehicle while visibly impaired is up to 93 days in prison and a $350 fine. Glasgow will be sentenced on July 14 at 10 a.m.
Glasgow, who started all 13 games for the Wolverines at guard and center last season, was suspended by Michigan head coach Brady Hoke for a portion of spring practice. He has also been suspended for the season opener against Appalachian State on August 30.
According to the Free Press, Hoke said last week that Glasgow’s discipline would not change.
