Miami's Hunter Knighton was taken to University of Miami Hospital after working out on Monday.

The Miami Herald, citing two sources, said Knighton, an offensive lineman, was unconscious.

The school released a statement about Knighton. No details of the workout or what led Knighton to be taken to the hospital have been released.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Hunter Knighton and his family at this time, though we are encouraged by the prognosis,” Miami's athletic department said in a statement. “We look forward to his return to normal activities as soon as his health permits.

“Out of respect for the privacy of those involved, UM will have no further comment at this time.”

Knighton signed with Miami as a member of the class of 2013 and enrolled in January of that year. He sat out the 2013 season because of shoulder surgery and redshirted. He's from Pottstown, Pa. and was a three-star prospect according to Rivals.

On Feb. 7, Cal football player Ted Agu collapsed during a conditioning run and later died. Agu was a defensive end for the Golden Bears.

While supporting the new rules proposal to allow defenses 10 seconds to substitute for "player safety," Arkansas coach Bret Bielema used Agu's death as support for his angle. He cited sickle cell trait, which Cal officials have not confirmed that Agu had, as a main reason that fast-paced football games and the inability for teams to subsititute is player safety issue.

Not surprisingly, Cal officials were very unhappy with Bielema's remarks.

Our best wishes go out to Knighton for a full recovery, as well as our hopes that no one invokes his name in the substitution debate that will continue until the rule is voted on March 6.
