Video: Huge brawl mars wild finish to Miami Beach Bowl

The inaugural Miami Beach Bowl was wildly entertaining on the field, but it had an ugly ending.

Memphis sealed a 55-48 win over BYU in double overtime when DaShaughn Terry intercepted Christian Stewart in the end zone. As Memphis players flooded the field in celebration, a huge brawl broke out on the field.

The fight appeared to start when BYU lineman Tejan Koroma (No. 56) pushed Memphis’ Martin Ifedi (Mo. 97). Koroma then turns around and Ifedi retaliates with a two-handed blow to Koroma’s head.

From there, all hell broke loose with dozens of players on each side getting involved.

Memphis lineman Chase Johnson even used his helmet as a weapon.

After things finally seemed to calm down, BYU defensive back Kai Nacua went after Memphis’ Alan Cross with a sucker punch.

After this, things finally subsided and the BYU players finally filed off the field and into the locker room while Memphis celebrated its tenth win of the season without obstruction.

It would not be surprising if disciplinary action is taken for next season for the BYU and Memphis players after the video of the incident is reviewed.

A brawl in the fourth quarter of the Norfolk State-South Carolina State game on Nov. 22 resulted in suspensions for 11 Norfolk players and 10 SC State players for their season-opening games of the 2015 season, so there is precedent for discipline carrying over to a different season.
