Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs will officially miss the remainder of the regular season.

Terps head coach Randy Edsall announced the news Thursday, but said the standout junior should return in time for the team’s bowl game.

Diggs lacerated his kidney in Maryland’s Nov. 1 win over Penn State while trying to make a diving catch during the fourth quarter. Diggs was suspended for the Terps’ game against Michigan State over the weekend for making contact with an official during a scuffle before the Penn State game.

Though he is now eligible to play, the 6-foot, 190-pound Diggs is “not expected to be cleared for contact until Dec. 1,” per the Baltimore Sun.

Diggs leads Maryland with 52 catches, 654 yards and five touchdowns this season.

The 6-4 Terps play Michigan on the road Saturday afternoon before finishing their season at home against Rutgers on Nov. 29.
