Marshall defensive back Tiquan Lang was arrested on Saturday.

According to the Huntington Herald-Dispatch, the rising senior safety was found asleep in a running vehicle early Saturday morning. Police also found a firearm “partially concealed” under the front seat and Xanax in the center console.

In all, the 21-year-old Lang, who was arrested at 5:50 a.m., was charged with “misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, possession of a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance.”

From the Herald-Dispatch:

Upon arrival, officers turned off the car and made multiple attempts to wake the man, who was asleep with the driver's seat reclined, according to criminal complaints. Police state the man had trouble maintaining balance as he exited the vehicle once awake.

After he was out of the vehicle, police say they found a Glock 27 with an extended 30-round magazine partially concealed under the seat.

A police dog sniffed out one full and two partial Xanax bars in the center console. Reports state police could smell the odor of marijuana, but none was found. A plastic cup with a small amount of liquor was located in the console.

Lang told police he had a prescription for the Xanax, but did not have it with him. Additionally, police said Lang’s performance on field sobriety tests “indicated impairment,” though he was found to have a .016 blood-alcohol level, which is below the legal limit of .08.

Lang was booked into custody on Saturday morning and released that afternoon. He did not play in Marshall’s spring game, which was held on Saturday afternoon.

Lang was a key member of the Thundering Herd defense in 2015, finishing with 91 tackles and two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns against Purdue. Overall in his three seasons with the program, Lang has 195 tackles, 15 passes broken up and four interceptions.

In a statement, Marshall head coach Doc Holliday said the program is aware of the situation and will “handle it internally and appropriately.”
