Micah Rogers was accused of vandalizing Howard’s Rock at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium more than two years ago. In July, Rogers will finally have his day in court.

Rogers, now 20 and free on bond, was arrested on June 28, 2013 for breaking off a piece of the rock on the night of June 2, 2013.

Rogers, who was not a Clemson student, was originally charged with trespassing and malicious injury to personal property valued between $2,000 and $10,000. Later, in January 2015, the charges against Rogers were elevated to grand larceny and malicious injury to personal property worth more than $10,000. Each charge carries up to 10 years in prison.

Per The Post and Courier, the trial is scheduled to begin on July 20.

Since 1966, it is tradition for Clemson players to rub Howard’s Rock as they enter Memorial Stadium. The rock is named for former Clemson head coach Frank Howard.

The rock was also vandalized in February when a man hit the glass case surrounding the rock with what appeared to be a rod. The man was captured by surveillance footage, but has yet to be identified.

Though the glass case was damaged, the rock appeared to be unharmed.
