Malcolm Marable does his best Cliff Harris impression and gets cited for driving 104 mph

Apparently, football players in the state of Oregon have been commissioned to show the world that Nissan Altima's are the speeding cars of choice.

The latest player to get caught flying down Oregon's Interstate 5 in a Altima is Oregon State cornerback Malcolm Marable, who was cited for driving 104 mph in a 2005 Altima at 1 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the Gazette-Times.

Marable was not only cited for driving Interstate 5 like it was the Autobahn, but he was also ticketed for failing to produce proof of insurance and registration. The fine for driving over 100 mph in Oregon is $1,148.

    Oh, and here's a shocker, it wasn't Marable's car.

Did Marable go to the Cliff Harris school of driving?

Last summer, Harris, a cornerback with the Oregon Ducks, was cited for going 118 mph in a 2011 Nissan Altima down the same stretch of road. He also didn't own the car and was cited for lack of insurance, driving with a suspended license and not wearing his seatbelt. Harris, who had a litany of other issues, was ultimately dismissed from the team.

Marable has been suspended indefinitely, the third Oregon State cornerback to suffer that fate. Sean Martin was suspended after a DUI and Mishawn Cummings was suspended for undisclosed reasons.

Hopefully, Marable's joyriding incident will be his last or else he might follow Harris footsteps right into looking for a new place to play.

Both are cornerbacks, both were driving an Altima, and both got a ticket for speeding on I-5.

But Cliff Harris was driving a car rented under false pretenses. Malcolm Marable was driving his parents' car. CH had thousands of dollars in unpaid tickets and a suspended license. MM has never had a ticket. CH admitted to have been using pot, but already "smoked it all". MM is not suspected of drug use. CH had two other members of the football team in the car, including Darron Thomas. MM was apparently alone. CH had a considerable history of troubles at UO. MM has had no issues at OSU.

It is unfortunate that most people will only read the first sentence and assume Malcolm Marable is cut from the same cloth as Cliff Harris.

Having drove that stretch of road many of times, I can understand the need to get the hell out of Albany, OR as fast as you possibly can. Also, that road is straight and boring for 20 miles in either direction..... just begging for some speed.
