Midweek MAC football is back on ESPN (well, ESPNU), and it already delivered a crazy highlight.
Buffalo trailed 10-0 in the final seconds of the first half when quarterback Alex Zordich fired up a Hail Mary pass to Alex Neutz. Neutz, at 6-4, plucked the ball out of the air and strolled the final few yards into the end zone for a touchdown as the first half ended.
The touchdown was a big play for Buffalo, and it was possible because of a total breakdown from Kent State. The Golden Flashes had seven players in the general vicinity of the ball when it was caught, yet not one player back on the goal line. Which, on the final play of the half, is about as inexcusable as it gets.
Through the first half, the MAC game wasn't producing many fireworks like some of the more insane #MACtion games we saw last year, but at least there was one notable play to break up the midweek doldrums.
