Kliff Kingsbury expects Jakeem Grant to play Saturday against TCU

The laceration that Texas Tech WR Jakeem Grant suffered in a shooting incident at a party early Sunday morning is on his chin and Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury expects him to play Saturday against TCU.

"I would expect him to play," Kingsbury said. "That's not 100 percent but it looks that way."

Grant was at a "krunkness" party Saturday night at a Lubbock, Tex.-area dance hall when gunshots came from multiple vehicles. He went to the hospital after suffering the laceration.

"As far as I know, he did receive stitches and it appeared to be from what I saw under his chin area," Kingsbury said.

Kingsbury also said he didn't know if any other players were at the party with Grant, who is Texas Tech's leading receiver.

"I have no clue," Kingsbury said. "Like I said, I just heard about Jakeem's situation, found out he was fine and that's where we're at."

According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, approximately two dozen officers responded to the incident. Two suspects have been identified and more than 20 shell casings have been recovered. It's still unknown how Grant suffered the laceration.

The paper said that the party was billed as "Krunkness 2014 and “the biggest college night to hit Lubbock, Texas.”
