Kevin Sumlin accidentally tweets joke about Steve Sarkisian (Photo)

It appears Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin learned an important Twitter lesson on Saturday.

In what was clearly meant to be a direct message, Sumlin sent out a tweet to his 71,000 followers that poked fun at USC head coach Steve Sarkisian’s recent drunken episode at a booster event.

Sumlin realized his mixup pretty quickly, and the tweet was only up for a few minutes before it was deleted. Unfortunately, a few minutes is all it takes for plenty of eyes to see and screenshot the tweet.

Sumlin isn’t the first coach to make the mistake. During his time as head coach at Florida, Will Muschamp publicly tweeted what were clearly DMs intended for recruits on multiple occasions -- but those didn't include jokes about other coaches.

Not too long after he sent the accidental tweet, Sumlin and A&M received a verbal commitment from four-star running back Rakeem Boyd. So his Saturday afternoon is doing better already.

As for Sarkisian, he apologized for his behavior and admitted that he had mixed alcohol and medication before using profanity in front of a large crowd of people.
