Johnny Manziel has made a career of using social media to show us how much cooler his life is than all of ours and he added another chapter this past weekend when he visited the spring training venue of the World Series champion Boston Red Sox watch practice and snap photos.
He wasn’t available to the media, but social media did a fine job of documenting his trip, which included a photo with the Red Sox’s World Series trophies and some hobnobbing at the team’s casino night – an annual charity event – with fellow SECer and Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr.
Manziel recently signed with Fenway Sports Management, which was the reason for the trip to JetBlue Park in Fort Meyers, Fla., which included his sister, Meri.
Manziel has taken some hits by draft analysts and some former NFL players and coaches, but he keeps on unapologetically being Johnny Football. He has, to his credit, laid low this offseason and focused on training for the upcoming NFL draft. He has said numerous times that he’s trying to show NFL teams he’s matured and that he’s ready to be the face of a franchise.
Whether he’ll get that shot as a top draft pick is still up for debate, but you can’t argue with the superstar reputation Manziel has built up off the field.
