Johnny Manziel battles waves as he works toward his next Heisman (Photo)

For all you young quarterbacks out there aspiring to be a Heisman Trophy winner, find yourself a good beach, a good trainer and some waves.

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, posted a picture on Instagram of his beach workout with trainer George Whitfield in California. It can't be easy to keep your balance and your concentration with a wave bearing down on you.

This is the second consecutive season Manziel is working with Whitfield. Makes sense, since last year’s workouts took him from spring backup to Heisman winner.

After watching Manziel’s performance last year, it’s easy to see how this particular drill played into Manziel’s success. During his 43 regular season touchdowns, there were multiple instances where Manziel used exceptional balance to either break tackles and run for scores, or escape defenders to find his receivers downfield.

Manziel’s workouts have become popular. Whitfield posted pics on his Instagram of several younger quarterbacks doing similar drills and ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit was also on the beach, no doubt gathering intel for a College Football Gameday piece.
