Florida fans apparently like getting Jameis Winston's autograph on Gator apparel.
Winston, Florida State's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, was at the Charlie Ward Mentor Leadership Football Camp over the weekend in Pensacola, Fla. A kid at the camp wore a Florida Gators shirt but it didn't stop him from asking for Winston's autograph.
BTW-Jameis was really nice to this UF fan, put his arm around his shoulders, talked to him, shook his hand. Kid came away with a big smile— Brooks York (@begijn) June 14, 2014
You'll notice that Winston signed the Florida shirt with the score of the Seminoles' win over the Gators in November. It's the second time (that we know of) that he's signed a Florida item. In March, when Florida played Florida State in baseball, Winston signed a Florida baseball hat.
Winston also added a Bible verse to his signature over the weeked. The Philippians 4:13 verse he quoted is "I can do all this through (Christ) who gives me strength."
He also said he considered Ward, a fellow Florida State Heisman-winner who also played another sport in addition to football, a mentor and it's why he wanted to attend the camp. In April, Winston was cited for shoplifting.
"I am loud and he's a lot more laid back and sometimes you have to be like that, especially when the spotlight is on you," said Winston, who acknowledged he is trying to learn from Ward in avoiding any more off field problems in his career.
