Jack Hoffman, 7-year-old star of Nebraska’s spring game, meets President Obama
What started out as a nice ceremonial play in Nebraska's spring game has ended up with 7-year-old Jack Hoffman making a run to the White House.
Hoffman, who is ba1ttling brain cancer and provided one of the year's best moments when he ran for a touchdown in the Cornhuskers' spring game, and his family are in Washington D.C. and will meet President Barack Obama, according to Nebraska's official blog. The post said the family was invited to the meeting, and Jack Hoffman's father Andy was hopeful it came off as planned.
That's a pretty incredible month for a little boy.
“There is no advance agenda. I am here simply as Jack’s dad, and Bri is here as Jack’s mom,” Jack Hoffman's father Andy told the N'Sider blog. “Of course, we hope that the President wants to support a conversation about pediatric brain cancer, but no matter what might happen if we get to meet President Obama, we’re honored that he has followed Jack’s journey. We’re honored because Jack represents every kid who has gone through this horrific disease without any changes in the first-line protocol to treat his form of pediatric brain cancer in 25 years.”
The clip of Hoffman's run on YouTube had more than 7.7 hits as he prepared to meet Obama. He will get his own trading card made and the N'Sider blog said he threw out the first pitch at a Michigan-Nebraska softball game.
For a 7-year-old kid it might be tough to pick out the top highlight, even if one of them is meeting the President.
