Georgia's hopes of riding its impressive offense to a SEC championship took a major hit near the end of Tuesday's practice.

Michael Bennett, Georgia's leading receiver, tore the ACL in his right knee near the end of practice and is done for the season, the school announced.

While Georgia's offense is built around its two star freshman running backs, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray is also having a fine season throwing the ball. It won't be so easy without Bennett, who had 24 catches, 345 yards and four touchdowns. The most crushing blow might be that Bennett's injury happened in practice, and not a game.

Malcolm Mitchell, the team's second-leading receiver last season, becomes a bigger factor for the Bulldogs' hopes. He started this season at cornerback, but was already in the process of moving back to receiver. Mitchell had four catches last week against Tennessee and didn't play on defense. Georgia may need Mitchell to be a big part of the offense now.

Georgia plays at South Carolina on Saturday. While teams have overcome injuries to key players before to win championships, it's not an ideal situation for fifth-ranked Georgia.
