Fresno State has new uniforms and chrome helmets too.
The Bulldogs will wear the chrome lids with all-navy uniforms on October 3 against San Jose State. Last year, Fresno played San Jose State on the road in one of the most exciting games of the season. The Bulldogs lost 62-52.
The all-navy look is a takeoff on the all-black idea Fresno did for a game last season. The school will now have three jersey colors (red, white and navy) and the red and white jerseys are being "upgraded" from the last time Fresno State's uniforms were redesigned in 2011.
Fresno will also have gray pants. According to the school, the all-navy and all-red combination set for September 13 are the only two games with uniform combinations decided. Every other uniform combination will be voted on by team captains before the game.
The school also said the helmet stripe has been reversed on its red helmets. Instead of starting from the back, it will start from the top of the facemask.
