A familiar face will join the Pac-12 Networks as a studio analyst for the 2014 season.

It was announced Thursday that former USC Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Matt Leinart has joined Pac-12 Networks and will make his debut on Saturday, August 30. Leinart, who suited up for the Trojans from 2001 to 2005 under head coach Pete Carroll, will join the panel for pregame, halftime and postgame coverage.

According to a release, Leinart, who recently retired from the NFL after eight seasons with four different teams, will also appear on “Pac-12 Football Weekly” and “will be featured in the Networks’ bowl game and spring football coverage” moving forward.

Leinart was a three-year starter for the Trojans from 2003 to 2005. In those three seasons, Leinart tallied 10,693 passing yards for 99 touchdowns and 23 interceptions and led USC to a 37-2 record and two BCS National Championship appearances, winning in 2004.

Following his standout college career, Leinart was selected tenth overall in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He played for the Cardinals for four seasons before stints with the Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills.

Leinart certainly knows the Pac-12 well, so this seems like a natural fit.
