Former Michigan CB Blake Countess heading to Auburn
Former Michigan CB Blake Countess says he's going to Auburn.
He announced the decision in an Instagram post Tuesday morning.
Countess started 30 games in his Michigan career and is a graduate transfer. He'll be able to play immediately at Auburn. The SEC accepts graduate transfers if the transfers fit a specific set of criterion.
He amassed over 100 tackles in his Michigan career and was a first team All-Big Ten selection in 2013.
Countess' decision to go to Auburn comes on the heels of a visit to the school, so we can't say it's too much of a surprise. He told AuburnSports.com that he had a good time at the school and Auburn's coaching staff explained to him how he'd be utilized as a member of the Tigers' defense.
"Just the genuine feel I got from them," Countess said via AuburnSports. "They are all great guys and their track records speak for themselves. They know what they are doing and they have done it successfully at high levels.
"They all sat down with me and did a really good job of explaining their situation to me. They explained how they would utilize me and my skillset, how they would help me get to where I want to be and also how I could help get them to where they want to be, which is national champions."
He'll likely step in immediately as a starter in Auburn's defense and also adds depth to a position that was a bit thin. CB T.J. Davis tore his ACL in the spring and may not be available to play at all in 2015.
