Former BYU QB Max Hall arrested for possession of cocaine, shoplifting

Former BYU QB Max Hall was arrested Friday after allegations of shoplifting and drug possession.

Per the Arizona Republic, police said Hall had stolen items from Best Buy and Wal-Mart in his backpack as well as a "personal use quantity of cocaine." He was released after his arrest, which happened at a Best Buy.

Hall, 28, is an Arizona native and transferred to BYU from Arizona State after he served his mission. He's BYU's second-leading passer with 11,365 career passing yards. (Ty Detmer is first with 15,031.)

Hall played for BYU from 2007-2009. In his three years as a starter, BYU was 33-7 and finished 11-2, 10-3 and 11-2. He's thrown for the most career touchdowns of anyone in the Mountain West Conference.

He signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent following the 2010 NFL draft. He played in six games that season and started three. He hasn't played a game in the NFL since.

According to the Republic, he was serving as the offensive coordinator at a Phoenix-area high school.
