A former Penn State recruit is alleging that former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky sexually molested him.

The man, who was not named, said he attended a football camp on the Penn State campus as a recruit and a “guest of the university” in 1988. It was during that camp the man says Sandusky molested him.

Attorney Daniel Kiss announced a press conference for Wednesday where he will read a statement from the alleged victim.

According to the Centre Daily Times, the man reported the abuse to the police in 2011 where the case was referred to the state Attorney General’s Office. However, Kiss said no action was taken.

In September 2014, Kiss’s firm, the Law Offices of Steven P. Passarello, filed a private complaint that was submitted to the Attorney General’s Office in October 2014. Kiss said there was an April meeting with the Attorney General’s Office and in May, the office sent a letter “denying approval ... over concerns relating to the statute of limitations.”

Kiss said there was never an issue with his client’s credibility and that the Attorney General’s Office considered his client a compelling witness.

“(He) was destined for greatness. He was an excellent student, extremely gifted athlete and a model citizen,” said the alleged victim’s family in a statement obtained by the Centre Daily Times.

“But after that camp, they said, “his life slowly began to spiral out of control, into a life of drugs, alcohol and serious crime, and none of us, including his parents, family or friends, could figure out what had happened. ... He secretly lived with this guilt and shame for approximately 27 years before finally telling his story.”

Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of child sexual abuse in June 2012 for abuses that occurred from 1994 to 2009. However, at least three victims came forward in July 2012 claiming Sandusky sexually abused them in the early 1970s. Sandusky is currently serving a 30-60-year sentence at Greene state prison in Waynesburg.
