Florida State RB Karlos Williams could be part of Title IX investigation

There could be another high-profile Title IX investigation involving a Florida State football player.

According to the Associated Press, RB Karlos Williams is subject to a Title IX investigation after allegations of domestic battery were brought against him.

Earlier in the week, Williams' former girlfriend, the woman who accused him of the offenses, said she wanted the charges dropped. However, the Tallahassee Police Department is still looking into the accusations.

From the AP:

But university spokeswoman Browning Brooks told The Associated Press in an email Wednesday that, ''While each set of facts and circumstances is different, as a general matter notice of any Title IX-related issues would prompt an investigation.''

The Tallahassee Police Department confirmed it is investigating an alleged domestic battery case involving Williams. It said it continues despite the woman involved filing an affidavit asking police to end the investigation.

The woman's lawyer also told the AP that he believes the university found out via social media. Earlier in the week, a screencap of pictures from what was purportedly the woman's Facebook account were being shared.

Quarterback Jameis Winston is part of a Title IX investigation after he was accused of sexual assault in 2012. Per Title IX rules, even if no charges are filed, the university must look into allegations. Winston is set to have an upcoming hearing as part of the Title IX investigation that will be presided by a former member of the Supreme Court. However, no date has been set for Winston's hearing.

DB Ronald Darby and LB Chris Casher, Winston's roommates, have already been a part of a Title IX hearing for their roles in the incident in December 7, 2012. After the delay in Florida State's investigation of Winston, lawyers for Winston's accuser asked the Department of Education to investigate Florida State.
