Florida State fans and students blame witnesses of Jameis Winston incident for star QB's suspension

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this week after he stood on a table and yelled an obscene phrase in the student union on FSU’s campus on Tuesday.

Several students saw Winston yell the phrase and instinctively took to social media and tweeted about what they had witnessed. Deadspin caught wind of the tweets and they soon spread across the Internet. A day later, FSU suspended the Heisman-winning quarterback for the first half of Saturday night’s game against Clemson.

Instead of being upset with Winston for being immature, many Florida State fans and students are blaming those who tweeted what they saw for Winston’s suspension.

Some were general with their blame.

Others tweeted directly at those whose tweets appeared in the Deadspin article. Most have deleted their accounts by now, but a few have not and have been receiving some nasty messages.

That's not a good look for these FSU fans. Winston himself admitted it was a selfish act and that he should have known better than to yell vulgarities in front of a bunch of people. Winston is to blame. No one else.

And while Winston will miss the first half, redshirt sophomore Sean Maguire will make his first career start against Clemson for the 8 p.m. ET kickoff.
