Former Northwestern running back Xavier Menifield is facing charges after weapons were found in his vehicle and ammunition was found in his dorm room.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Menifield, who is no longer with the program, was charged March 16 with felony “aggravated unlawful use of a weapon” for having an unloaded rifle in his vehicle, which was parked outside of Ryan Field.

Additionally, police allegedly found “metal knuckles” in his car and firearm ammunition in his dorm room. Police records say that Menifield “did not have a valid firearm owner’s ID card.”

Menifield, 19, redshirted during the 2013 season and appeared in only one game for the Wildcats in 2014. He is currently free on bond and is due in court next month, according to the Tribune.

A Northwestern spokesman said Menifield is no longer enrolled at the university.

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Menifield, a native of Valencia, Calif., was a three-star recruit in the 2013 class. He chose Northwestern over offers from Air Force, Army and Wyoming, according to Rivals.
